SUPERMARKETS tend to attract the thickest members of society.
They are like a magnet for the instituionalised stupid.
But Budgens next to our offices in Highams Park has to be in line for some kind of award - for services to its competitors.
I've never tried it but I reckon it must be easier to steal something than pay for it.
If the stupid customers weren't enough to contend with there is the system with the checkouts.
There needs to be a crowd the size of one in a Cecil B de Mile film to get a second checkout open.
You nip in for a pint of milk and a packet of Quavers and end up spending half your lunch time in the queue.
Tescos have put in an application to build a massive store just over the road.
And I've even heard Budgens staff saying they can't wait for it to arrive.
Just like everyone else.
This place has had it too easy because it's been the only supermarket in the area.
Maybe with some competition it will buck it ideas up or close down.
