Not so much of the good life

IF www.friendsreunited.co.uk is full of people who exgerate their happiness and success - I know someone whose life must be total pants.

OK, to say, all people exgerate is broad statement but there must be a great deal of embellishing the truth.

People may gloss over the humdrum parts of their careers and the tedious aspects of their marriages and home lives.

That's why I had to laugh when I saw notes left by a someone I used to know. She was my girlfriend of six years until she decided to leave while I was at work.

Not that I'm bitter about it.

In her Dear John letter she explained that I was holding her back, that she wanted a career in teaching adding that "I hope you find something to do with your life"

The 'your' was underlined to make the point that I was the no-mark while she was the high-flyer destined for great things.

She had it all planned out. With the help of her two-faced scheming family.

So imagine how interested I was to read that after years of running a "very successful bridal tiara business" she is now a tattoo artist.

A business so successful that she just jacked it then? She also described herself as being "currently back in Redcar" (that's her hometown by the way).

For those who don't know the place, Redcar is a small seaside town near Middlesbrough in the north east.

Now while it may have many (hidden) good points, Monte Carlo it ain't. People need to travel to Midlesbrough for some glamour. That says it all.

So saying "currently back in Redcar" sort of implies that she has been somewhere else.

After trying out London, New York and Paris she decided to - move back to Redcar.

I don't think so. The reality is that a couple of years at college in Surrey in the late 1980's the furthest she ever got.

The fantastic teaching career is described as "I also upped the training to teaching standard, 11 to 16 year olds".

No mention of actually teaching though. It's a bit like a footballer who trains all week but then doesn't play.

She finishes the details of herself with "Cheerz!!". How every 1980s.

So what I'm saying is that, assuming that she has picked out the best bits of her life and dressed them up, her life must be rubbish.

There's no need for me to seek out revenge. She seems to have already done it to herself.

What about me though? Well I get to write this don't I so life's not too bad thank you.

Like I said. I'm not bitter.
