HARLOW: Neighbourhood policing scheme launched
POLICE have launched their A Name in Every Neighbourhood' campaign which will complement a national celebration of the success of neighbourhood policing.
The campaign, which started in Harlow yesterday, involves officers across the force joining with partners and volunteers in publicising the local engagement work undertaken and promoting the ways in which the public can contact their local neighbourhood specialist officer.
For two weeks the campaign's message will be displayed across the county on a vehicle as well as being placed on the screens and receipts from cash machines.
Essex Police has also produced unique leaflets relating to each district to help promote the campaign, which will be handed out by staff throughout the campaign period.
Assistant Chief Constable Carmel Napier said: "The aim of the campaign is to raise the public's awareness of neighbourhood policing and the great work neighbourhood policing teams do.
"There is a named point of contact responsible for neighbourhood policing in your local area, and you can find their details easily on our website. The neighbourhood policing team in your area is there to work with you and tackle the problems in the community which you think are a priority.
"The problems that matter to you also matter to your neighbourhood policing team as they are there to make sure that the community you live in is safe and feels safe."
Contact details of your local neighbourhood officer can be found at www.essex.police.uk
