CHILDREN at Loughton Montessori Nursery have a new friend with a new name.

Shongololo is the Church Hill nursery's new pet corn snake and Trent Campbell, two, won the competition for children at the nursery to choose his name.

Shongololo means little worm in the South African language Zulu.

The children will call the snake Lolo.

Trent won a colourful cuddly snake as his prize.
