Tottenham v Liverpool, Sunday, May 11, 3pm, Barclays Premier League

9:43am Saturday 10th May 2008

MATCH PREVIEW

LAST MEETING: Liverpool 2 Spurs 2 (7-10-07, Barclays Premier League) A last-minute Fernando Torres goal prevented Spurs from recording a famous win at Anfield in September.

Andrei Voronin had put the Reds ahead after just 12 minutes, but the lethal boot of Robbie Keane scored either side of half-time to give Spurs an improbable lead.

Despite doing enough to have won the game, Rafa Benitez's men rescued a point when Torres headed in at the back post.

LAST TIME AT WHITE HART LANE (30-12-06, Barclays Premier League): A single goal from Luis Garcia on the stroke of half-time was enough for Liverpool to take home the points last season. HEAD-TO-HEAD: Spurs 35 wins, Liverpool 60 wins, 34 draws FORM: Last have taken 10 points from their last 12 with wins over Manchester City, Fulham and Blackburn guaranteeing them the fourth and final Champions League place, which they have battled for with local rivals Everton for much much of the season. DANGER MAN: Although Steven Gerrard is the engine in the Liverpool team, it is the scintillating form of Fernando Torres that has made the headlines this year.

With 32 goals to his name in his debut season in English football, Torres is arguably Europe's most lethal marksman on current form.

After gambling £26,500,000 of Tom Hicks and George Gillett's money on the Spaniard, Benitez will believe he was fully justified in breaking the bank as the striker has become a cult hero at Anfield.

FUN FACT: Northern Irish golfer Darren Clarke (pictured) is a life-long Liverpool fan, and the Ryder Cup hero will no doubt be hoping Gerrard and co can drive past the Spurs defence on more than one occasion on Sunday.
